Generous 100-year-old Paloma Jover Gonzalez donated what is expected to be millions of euros, on one condition: The town hall of Lanjaron can only use the money ‘for the good of others’.
Her fortune, which was made from property along the Costa del Sol as well as her inheritance, must be carefully monitored.
The town hall, which is doing a full inventory of her assets, has confirmed it will initially spend money on a new day care centre.
Jover Gonzalez, who had lived in the Alpujarras town for decades, was very well connected with even King Alfonso XIII acting as best man at her wedding in the Vatican.
The daughter of a Spanish ambassador, she was born in Cuba and married newspaper magnate Pedro Rivero.
The couple had a son who died very young and she leaves no relatives.
