Six arrested after Cartagena kidnapping

National Police from Cartagena have arrested six people in connection with the kidnapping of a 26 year old Spaniard who was held against his will for ten days in the Los Nietos area of the town.

The man was also beaten as the four demanded that he returned money he owed them, and on his release on August 10 was admitted to hospital suffering injuries across all his body.

Police are reported to have some phone calls on August 5 and 6 which tipped them off about a possible kidnapping. The identity of the victim has not been revealed.

The six arrested, five men and a woman aged between 23 and 46 are all Spanish, now face charges of kidnap and causing injury. Four are being handled by the court in Cartagena, while two are in court in Alicante as that is where they were arrested.
