U.S. delegation to visit Palomares 
next week: "it’s been confirmed that a delegation from the United States will arrive in Spain next week on a three-day trip to discuss a solution to the plutonium contamination which remains in Palomares after a nuclear accident
45 years ago when two bombs crashed to land.Four bombs fell when a U.S. B-52 and its refuelling plane crashed mid-air, but the two which fell in the sea were recovered intact.
It was the accident’s 45th anniversary a month ago.
The team of is led by Glenn Podonsky, from the U.S. Energy Department. With him, Público reports, will be representatives from Defence and the U.S. Embassy in Spain. Spain’s team for the talks will include scientists from Ciemat – the Centre for Energy, Environmental and Technological Investigations – and representatives from the Ministries for Science and Innovation, Industry and Presidency."
